The shoulder injury sustained by Sri Lanka’s opening batsman Kusal Janith Perera during last Friday’s World Cup warm up match against Bangladesh is not serious and he will be fit to play the matches said Sri Lanka team Manager Mahinda Halangoda.

Kusal Janith had retired hurt after scoring 34 runs from 24 balls after suffering from pain on his right shoulder.

While the injury is considered not serious, the Sri Lanka Team management sent Kusal Janith Perera for a scan on Saturday.

The team management expects he will recover in time for the first World Cup match on October 7.

Sri Lanka Cricket team management may rest Kusal Janith Perera for the warm-up match against Afghanistan on October 03 as a precaution. while Maheesh Theekshana the mystery spinner who is still here in Sri Lanka for recovery period subjected will leave on October 4.

Sri Lanka have already faced one warm-up match in which they were defeated by Bangladesh by 7 wickets but that was not an issue and we wanted to get maximum match practice before the world cup and main target is to give all squad players match experience added senior official of the team management.

The team doctor Kiriella is looking in the fitness of all the players before their first match against South Africa in Delhi.
