Lyceum Wattala Unveils Upgraded Synthetic Track

Lyceum Wattala Unveils Upgraded Synthetic Track-eLanka 01

Lyceum International School, Wattala marked the grand opening of its newly redeveloped synthetic athletics track, reinforcing the school’s long-standing commitment to nurturing young athletes alongside a world-class educational experience.

This milestone also reflects a proud legacy. In 2005, Mr. Mohan Lal Grero, Founder of Lyceum International Schools, introduced the first synthetic athletics track in a Sri Lankan school at Lyceum Wattala, setting a new benchmark for school-level sports infrastructure in the country. With a strong vision to develop young athletes in parallel with global education, the initiative paved the way for generations of Lyceum students to excel in athletics at both national and international levels.

After two decades, Mr. Nikitha Grero, Group Chairman & CEO of Lyceum Global Holdings, spearheaded the redevelopment of the track. With the advancement of sports science and evolving international standards, the upgrade was undertaken to provide students with a modern, high-quality training environment.

The new track, built to international standards, was officially handed over to the students on 12th March.

The ceremony was graced by Ms. Sriyani Kulawansha, President of Sri Lanka Olympians and Chairperson of the National Sports Selection Committee, along with Mr. Nikitha Grero, Mr. Sameera Hewage, Vice President – Sports, Fitness and Wellness Innovation of Lyceum Global Holdings and CEO of Heracle Holdings, Ms. Stella Anton, Principal of Lyceum Wattala, and members of the Lyceum International Schools Network and NCG Holdings.

The project was completed in collaboration with Vebuild and Guangdong Sohotech Ltd., delivering a world-class facility for the next generation of Lyceum athletes.
