IN LOVING MEMORY OF Mr. George Russell Layton Bartholomeusz July 09, 1942 – May 28, 2024

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Mr. George Russell Layton Bartholomeusz, Teacher, Legendary Organist, Choir Master, and Precentor of the Chapel of the Transfiguration at S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia, on Tuesday 28th May, 2024.

Beloved son of the late George and Ethel Bartholomeusz, and cherished brother of the late Christopher, Felix and Heather Soertsz (Australia). Brother-in-law of Priyanthi, uncle of Gregory and Chantha, Trisha, Sean and Sachithra and grand uncle of Alana and Shevan.

Mr. Bartholomeusz’s remains will lie at The Chapel of the Transfiguration, S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia on Thursday, 30th May from 3 PM to 9 PM and Friday, 31st May from 9 AM onwards. Service of Thanksgiving and Commendation will be held at 3 PM on Friday, 31st May. The cortege will leave at 4.30 pm for cremation at The Mount Lavinia Cemetery at 5 PM.

This is to inform you about the funeral proceedings for Mr. Russel Bartholomeusz.

Service at 3 PM

All former choristers are invited to sing for the Service of Thanksgiving and Commendation. Three rows will be reserved in front for the choristers; if there are more, they may need to join the congregation. Please WhatsApp your name to 0777510455, if possible, before 9 PM on the 30th of May.

After the service and before departing for the crematorium the cortège will process around the quadrangle with seven different groups of people bearing the casket as below. Those who wish to participate please contact the person whose name and number are provided.
