New South Wales have been crowned 2025–26 One Day Cup champions after defeating Tasmania by 4 wickets in a rain affected final, with the match reduced to 22 overs per side at Bellerive Oval.

The victory marks NSW’s 13th domestic one day title and their first since 2020–21, when they defeated Western Australia in the One Day Cup final in Sydney.

Australian Cricket Hall of Fame inductee Michael Bevan was in attendance to present the Michael Bevan Award to the Player of the Final, Kurtis Patterson, for a match defining performance.

Scores in brief

TASMANIA – 118 (20.3 overs)
Nikhil Chaudhary 31; Tim Ward 26
Sean Abbott 3-25; Ben Dwarshuis 3-30

NSW – 119/6 (20.1 overs)
Kurtis Patterson 52*; Joel Davies 20
Nathan Ellis, 2-26; Riley Meredith 2-31

Marnus Labuschagne (Queensland) was named the 2025-26 One Day Cup Player of the Year. He finished the season with 468 runs at an average of 78 with a strike rate of 96.49. He scored four centuries with a top score of 130 against Tasmania.

This was the 58th edition of Australia’s domestic one day tournament, contested for the Dean Jones Trophy.

Peter Roach, Head of Cricket Operations and Scheduling CA said:

“Congratulations to New South Wales on securing the One Day Cup title in a rain affected final.

“It’s been a strong tournament where the finalists were not known until the very last match.

“Although today’s final was sadly impacted by weather, NSW are indeed a worthy winner after their strong showings across the tournament.

“We have seen some exciting talent delivering impressive performances throughout the summer, highlighting the depth in Australian cricket.”
