Press Release – Vision Care Ties Up with Western Province School Transport Association to Drive Eye Health Awareness

Vision Care Ties Up with Western Province School Transport Association to Drive Eye Health Awareness 01 (1)

08th July 2025, Colombo: Vision Care, Sri Lanka’s largest provider of vision, hearing, and eyewear solutions, partnered with the Western Province School Transport Association in a pioneering mobile awareness campaign — the first of its kind in Sri Lanka. This collaboration aims to promote early eye care among school children, their families, and surrounding communities through a unique and highly visible platform: school vans.

More than 300 school vans across the Western Province have been mobilized as part of this impactful initiative. Each vehicle has been branded with non-obstructive, safety-compliant decals carrying eye health messages. These messages serve as daily reminders to children, parents, drivers, and the broader public about the importance of regular eye check-ups and early detection of vision issues.

In addition to the branding effort, Vision Care has taken the lead in educating school van drivers on the importance of maintaining good eye health. The company conducted a dedicated session to inform drivers about the need for eye check-ups at least twice a year and immediate corrective action when necessary. Maintaining healthy eyesight is essential for drivers to ensure road safety — not just for the children in their care, but for other pedestrians and motorists as well. Regular eye screenings help detect vision impairments early and reduce the risk of accidents caused by poor eyesight.

Kasun Wijesena, Marketing Manager of Vision Care, emphasized the long-term vision behind the collaboration, “This initiative is more than just branding. It’s a commitment to protect the eyesight of our future generation, starting with a simple but powerful reminder every day on their journey to school. Through this campaign, we’re integrating health education into the everyday routine of school communities.”

By embedding preventive healthcare messages into the daily school commute, Vision Care is reinforcing its role as a proactive partner in public health. This initiative reflects the brand’s broader mission to make quality vision care accessible, educational, and community-centered — one school van at a time.

With a legacy spanning over three decades, Vision Care continues to lead the way in Sri Lanka’s eye care industry. Through its team of expert optometrists, scientifically driven practices, and state-of-the-art diagnostic technology, the company delivers globally benchmarked optical solutions tailored to diverse lifestyles and budgets.
