“Enhancing Access to Digital Education for Disadvantaged Students/Children in the Rural Area of Sri Lanka”

Introduction: The role of technology in teaching and learning is rapidly becoming a crucial and widely discussed topic in the modern education system. Most education experts agree that, when used effectively, information and communication technology have the potential to enhance teaching and learning while shaping job opportunities. Computer illiteracy is now seen as a new form of illiteracy, sparking a strong desire to provide schools in remote villages with the necessary computer facilities and trained personnel to develop technologically skilled students. It is undeniable that computers can assist in the instructional process and support students’ learning.

Intervention: To address the digital gaps, the Vanni Hope Australia is undertaking a pilot project to promote information and communication technologies within rural communities. This project has enabled many schools to experience ICT services that were once a distant dream. Schools are traveling long distances to access these services for a nominal fee. However, due to the increasing demand and limited training equipment, a need for enhanced learning facilities was identified after careful evaluation of the rural schools’ situations. This initiative, focused on rural areas, aims to provide children with basic ICT knowledge and skills to enhance literacy and human resource capacity-building, preparing them for future employment.

We are currently looking for sponsorship for 10 rural schools in the Upcountry & Eastern Province to provide complete 3 sets of computers with their accessories.

TOTAL COST FOR 30 SETS OF COMPUTERS (CPU,SOFTWARE,KEYBOARD, MONITOR), UPS AND TRAINING = LKR (RUPEES)  2,400,000.00 …  AUD$ 12,500.00 …  US$ 8,100.00                  CAD$ 11,100.00            GBP $ 6,400.00
 TOTAL COST FOR 1 SET OF COMPUTER (CPU,SOFTWARE,KEYBOARD, MONITOR), UPS AND TRAINING = LKR (RUPEES)  80,000.00  …  AUD$ 420.00    … US$ 270.00  ….  CAD$ 370.00 …. GBP $215.00
We are looking for Full or Part Sponsorship for these rural school to Enhance the Digital Education.Thank you once again for helping Vanni Hope to serve under privileged individuals and families in the very remote communities in Sri Lanka.

Best Regards
