RUWAN KUMARA ALREADY A SHINING SINGING STAR ON HIS Way to Stardom – by Sunil Thenabadu
Young Ruwan Kumara Ranasinghe is a native of Alapalawa a village in Peradeniya has had his education at Alapalawa Maha Vidyalaya in his native village.He is the eldest of three siblings, the parents are farmers. Ruwan Kumara had shown interests to music not inherited from parents perhaps with abundant of innate talent. Though he had been beating on the desks and singing unfortunately the teachers; had not identified his talent. However his mother had noticed his talent had encouraged him to sing and rendered a huge backing in his musical journey She had even taken bank loans to pursue a career recording songs and then music videos.
Ruwan had studied music under musician Romesh Sugathapala the well know musician who also from Kandy area and studied up to Visharada level. Ruwan had a craze to listen to all types of songs and music from the radio and other sources from his very young days has had an ambition to be a popular singing personality. Ruwan had participated in the Sirasa Super Star reality contest in year 2011 where he had been selected among the final one hundred contestants for which he was very contented as he had learnt more for his rising singing career which had been his life’s ultimate dream. Ruwan is employed at CBL as particularly as he needs money to spend for his music endeavours. Ruwan’s role model vocalists are Sunil Edirisinghe,TM Jayaratne,Victor Ratnayake,Rookantha Gunatilleke,Nadeeka Guruge etc.
To date he has achieved his dream by recording about seven songs three are with music videos. One of his music videos the duet song with Nimanthi Chamodini a very popular vocalist initially from Derana Dream Star contest had been selected among the first twenty five in the Derana Music awards from a collection four hundred music videos. His songs are been continously played in many FM radio channels like Hiru FM,Sha FM, Rhythm FM ,Derana FM etc.But he says he has not been guided much and supported by our media for which he regrets. Most of his songs have been acclaimed by many audiences from the time when his maiden song was recorded in year 2014 “Pata Gewa Adare” the lyrics were by Danushka Kumaratunga, music was by Ruwan Meegahawatta. Ruwan did not take much time to record his second song a duet with Nimanthi Chamodini emerged from a Derana Drea Star season 2 gruelling contest a competent vocalist. The lyrics of this song “Nolebena Adare’ was penned by Sathsara Kasun and music melody by Duleep Miranda..
Ruwan’s third song was in year 2018 “Senasumak Patha”the lyrics were by Ruwan Meegahawatta.music composition were also of Ruwan Meegahawatta.The fourth song of Ruwan was in year 2020 titled “Obe Ruwa” the lyrics were penned jointly by Ruwan himself and his younger sister Sandunika Ranasinghe, while the music composition was by Sanjula Himala,

Ruwan’s fifth song is titled “ Sagare Tharam” is also a duet his second duet song Imasha Muthucumaru who is well known for singing her song ‘Sandak Wenna Beri Nam’, the lyrics were by Radika Madushan and music composition by Nilan Fernando. This duet has gone to many followers very fast for which Ruwan is elated and with this he hopes to launch more songs for the listening pleasure of his followers. His latest song titled “Hanguna” which is well received in Tik Tok the music video is been contemplated in completing Ruwan intends to combine with Shehan Mihiranga for a joint creation which is now been discussed.
A song was sung as a ‘Hindi cover song; ‘Sagare Tharam’ also a duet with Imasha Madukumari, lyrics were by Randika Madushan and music by Nilan Fernando.
