Experience the Flavors of Turkey at ‘Chayhane’, Colombo’s Newest Turkish Café Now Open

Experience the Flavors of Turkey at ‘Chayhane’, Colombo's Newest Turkish Café Now Open (1)

12th March 2025, Colombo – Colombo’s culinary landscape just got richer with the launch of Chayhane, a Turkish café located at 27th Lane, Inner Flower Rd, Colombo 03. The grand opening was graced by Former President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Colombo, Merve Gözde Otlu, and other notable guests.

Bringing a slice of Turkey to Colombo, Chayhane was born from founder Naura Aufer’s passion for authentic experiences. A corporate travel consultant by profession, she was inspired to open Chayhane after noticing the lack of authentic Turkish restaurants in Colombo. Determined to fill this gap, she created a space where guests can experience the warmth of Turkish hospitality and the richness of its culinary traditions.

Excited about the opening of Chayhane, Founder Naura Aufer stated, “We want Chayhane to be more than just a café. It is a space where people come together, unwind, and immerse themselves in Turkish culture. What started as a simple thought has now become a place where Colombo can experience the true flavors and traditions of Turkey. I hope every guest who walks through our doors feels the warmth and authenticity that defines Turkish hospitality.”

The name Chayhane originates from the Turkish word çayhane, meaning ‘A Room for Tea’ symbolizing a welcoming space for connection and relaxation. The café’s ambiance reflects this ethos, blending Middle Eastern aesthetics with an inviting, cozy atmosphere that transports guests to the heart of Turkey.

The menu is a carefully curated selection of Turkish specialties, featuring aromatic Turkish coffee and tea, an all-day Turkish breakfast platter, Menemen, Shakshuka, Authentic Sucuk, Arayes, and the signature Anna Paul Turkish Pasta. Each dish is crafted with authentic ingredients and traditional techniques, ensuring an experience that is both flavorful and true to Turkish heritage. For the Ramadan season, Chayhane also offers a special Ifthar menu, allowing guests to break their fast with an array of authentic Turkish delights.

More than just a place to dine, Chayhane is designed to be a cultural experience—where every sip of coffee, every bite of food, and every conversation shared echo the spirit of Turkey. Whether you are a coffee enthusiast, a food lover, or someone seeking a unique escape within Colombo, Chayhane promises an unforgettable journey into Turkish culture.

Now open to the public, Chayhane welcomes everyone to experience its warm hospitality, rich flavors, and timeless traditions. Inquiries or reservations can be made via chayhanecolombo@gmail.com or by contacting 0742677513.
