Kamindu Mendis’s Classic Catch at IPL

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 lacked one defining catch which could be talked about as the catch of the tournament, however, Kamindu Mendis, the SRH fielder took a screamer to dismiss the dangerous CSK batter, Dewald Brevis at a crucial juncture of the IPL match at Chidambaram Stadium.
Mendis takes jaw-dropping catch Vs CSK
CSK were put into bat and they lost flurry of wickets before debutant, Brevis decided to take matters into his own hands and smacked a barrage of boundaries to bring his team back in the contest.
It needed a special feat to dismiss the power-hitter and Mendis pulled off an unbelievable catch as CSK lost yet another wicket in a riveting battle. Harshal Patel bowled a slower length ball as Brevis swung hard but didn’t get the elevation as Mendis at long-off leaped in the air to his left and flew like Superman to take the catch of the tournament.
The ball was travelling at a rapid pace and Mendis judged the catch to perfection as even Pat Cummins couldn’t believe what he saw.

In my youthful days I was a good fielder and took some good diving catches. Some were diving forward; one was running back to a skier to fine-leg from my leg-slip position. However, in all these instances I got the ball at ankle-height. The MARVEL in Kamindu’s catch is that he reached it at thigh/waist height while moving …. wel, FLYING …. SIDEWAYS.
