Hello Nadeesha – Congratulations for this Milestone Feat!!!!
Although I left Oman on May 17 2002 after a stint of 27 years with Oman Telecommunications Finance Dept & Strategic Planning & Development Unit during The Telecommunications Infrastructure Development Projects funded by the World Bank, Arab Fund, Kuwait Fund & Government Fund Loans I had occasion to meet several Sri Lankan from various walks of life who came to Oman to contribute towards the Development of this Great Nation The Sultanate Oman, our Second Home and to many others.
We formed the First Generation Sri Lankans who have now retired and domiciled all over the Globe. During this time I met your Dad Sunny Hemachandra who was a banker by Profession.
Twenty years later June 9 2022 as the Screenshot below evidenced, I connected with you and I soon found that you were a dynamic personality, a go-getter and very swift with your responses.
You had the streaks I had as a young boy living in Mt Lavinia as a member of the Ratmalana Jaycees.
The Chapter in its infancy was led by President Sunil Jayasinha an Executive in the Production Division of Lever Brothers.
I won the Most Outstanding Jaycee Award and was appointed the Vice President on a Special Waiver.
I was the Public Relations Officer and released the Jaycee Journal.
I was the Secretary to Project Chairman David Ruston of the Great Race Vintage Car Rally sponsored by Times of Ceylon.
I served as the Project Chairman for Jayce Nite 73 Dance Committee and the Leadership Development Management Training Seminar.
In Oman I was a Member of the Fund Raising Project under the Chairman of the Sri Lankan School Muscat Anselm Perera who was later the Deputy CEO HSBC Oman.
The First Prize was a Mazda Car and a Pix was featured in the Times of Oman in January 1997
I was the founding Secretary of the Sri Lankan Communicate Social Club and served in several Avurudu Celebration & Dance Committees sponsored by our National Carrier Sri Lankan Airlines.
In Canada I was a Member of the then Canada Sri Lanka Business Council, The CandianTamil Chamber of Commerce and the Secretary of the then Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce
I am proud and elated that as a Second Generation Sri Lankan after being the Administrator of the Sri Lankan School Muscat Alumni you will commence your new role with the same enthusiasm aggressively.
It is my firm belief that you will go down the annals of Sri Lanka & Oman’s History.similar to Avisshka Mario Sevenviratne the young Editor of Ceylon Journal who is an old boy of my Alma Mater St Joseph’s College.
On another note, I am hoping that very soon many of the First Generation Sri Lankan will reminisce about their stay in Oman.

He has published several articles in the ever popular E-Lanka Newsletter that reaches out to over 30K Sri Lankans around the Globe.
I am deeply grateful to its Managing Director Neil Jayasekera supported by his Marketing Manager Rasangi Vinodini . They have very graciously published many notifications I have sent the journal on and off
The First Generation Sri Lankan is also proud to have its own Facebook Page Muscat 80’s Club also administered from Sydney Administered by another Ex-Oman Retired Banker Demond Don Paul.
Desmond also came to Oman in 1975 and at the time of his Retirement he was the COO of HSBC Vancouver British Columbia, before being the CEO/COO in Eleven countries – another milestone achievement !!!!!!
