Sunil de Silva of La Canada, Ca. awarded the prestigious International Humanity Special Gold Award at the City of Dreams in Colombo


Sunil de Silva of La Canada, Ca. was awarded the prestigious
International Humanity Special Gold Award. He was recognized for his Humanitarian work. The event was held at the City of Dreams, Cinnamon Life in Colombo. Sunil de Silva is the Chairman of St Joseph Hospital in Negombo. Kids n Teens Medical launched the official website of the International Human rights organization.

kisses the ground of Sri Lanka at the Colombo Airport. He visited the country of his birth, Sri Lanka, in December 2025 after 10 years.

We stayed at the Executive Suites of the fabulous Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo, which was beautifully decorated with Christmas stars.

Aliki and her uncle George, Cindy Rabot and grand daughter Shauna Fernando were treated to a special luncheon by her cousin Sheahara Pandithage at the Amaya Hotel in Dambulla

These two beautiful Sri Lankan village girls, fruit vendors, made a big impression on Aliki.

Sri Lanka Embassy in Washington Welcomes ‘Walk for Peace’

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington, D.C., welcomed the ‘Walk for Peace’ on 10 February 2026, as a group of Buddhist monks continued their walk across the United States advocating world peace. The initiative drew participation from people across the United States and abroad. At the invitation of District of Columbia Secretary Kimberly A. Bassett, Ambassador Mahinda Samarasinghe attended an interfaith ceremony at the Washington National Cathedral. Thousands gathered at the Cathedral in support of the Walk. The Ambassador was accompanied by Deputy Head of Mission Madhuka Wickramarachchi.

David Weinman, son of Major Aubrey Weinman, former Director of the Dehiwela Zoo, Celebrates 82nd Birthday in Australia


David Weinman celebrating his 82nd birthday on January 13th, 2026. David is the son of Major Aubrey Neil Weinman who was the Director of the Dehiwela Zoo in Sri Lanka. Major Weinman’s book “My Personal Ark” was the first book that started the unique Victor Melder Sri Lanka Library, in Melbourne, Australia. On January 17th his daughter Tamara and grandson Ali went out for dinner to Peking Duck, in Western Australia. David with his wife Doreen-ann.

Dr Barclay George “Buddy” Reid has been formally inducted into the Table Tennis Australia Hall of Fame, one of the highest honours bestowed by the sport’s national governing body. This prestigious recognition celebrates a lifetime of exceptional achievement, dedication, and service to table tennis, both in Sri Lanka and Australia. Dr Buddy Reid’s sporting journey is truly inspirational. Born in Sri Lanka, he first rose to prominence as an elite athlete in the late 1950s and early 1960s, becoming a multiple-time Sri Lankan national table tennis champion. His remarkable versatility saw him also represent the country in cricket, earning the rare distinction of being a double international sportsman—a testament to his talent, discipline, and commitment to excellence.
Dinara De Silva storms into Semi-Finals

Dinara De Silva delivered a commanding performance to book her place in the semi-finals of the ITF Junior Week 3 Tournament, defeating Japan’s Akari Oda in straight sets in the girls’ singles quarter-final yesterday at the SLTA Courts.
De Silva was in dominant form from the outset, overpowering Oda 6/2, 6/1 in a clinical display of aggressive baseline play and consistent serving. The youngster controlled the tempo of the match, breaking her opponent’s serve multiple times and conceding very few unforced errors. Oda struggled to find rhythm against De Silva’s precise groundstrokes and sharp court coverage.
