APOORWA ASHAWAREE MULTITALENTED-SOUGHT AFTER VOCALIST,ACTRESS ,DERANA DREAM STAR RUUNER UP-by Sunil Thenabadu
Apoorva’s Father a Police officer a native of Kantale while mother is from Kurunegala who is a teacher having a degree in Mass Media had first taught in a national school in Narammala lately worked as a teacher at Apoorva’s. school Mayurapada Madhya Maha Central College Narammala after triumphing in her year five scholarship examination at Mayurapada Junior school in Narammala. More remembrances she reminisces while at the senior school as she had spent more time in the school’s music room. As in Kantale there were no good schools when father had worked in Police Station Vavuniya the family had opted to dwell in Kurunegala after which father had obtained a transfer to Kurunegala police station. .She reminisces of her father to Apoorva is limited as he had succumbed to death in a motor accident when she was in the fifth standard when she was just ten years old before she sat for the grade five scholarship examination She added that his loss was huge for a young girl like her. But her mother had played both roles of father and mother thereafter but she was a very strict to her but to younger solitary brother she was lenient saying as he was a male. Apoorva though had a idea to become a star in music but her mother had not interfered at all. Apoorwa confessed at a television dialog, owing to her this attitude Apoorwa had achieved a lot in her life. All members of her family are music lovers, mother though qualified as a mass media graduate teaches music also in school.
Apoorwa was a somewhat of a peculiar individual who from her very young age wanted to experiment and explore on numerous concerns that confronted life been utmost inquisitive endeavoured to discover and explore many life’s phenomena on education and external matters, if not she was not convinced but confused She was one who did not like to live in suspicion. . Hence, she was a person who refused to remain in uncertainty in several themes wanting to explore all focusses. Other than that craze Apoorwa was also fascinated in was endeavouring to cook. He recollects when young she used to make playful meals with coconut refuse and sand. She had a craze to act a s teacher wearing a saree and a stick was to destroy leaves of trees similar to caning students which one day mother had seen had stopped her from that act. For her whether it was education side, dancing, music or any other subject she wanted to be inquisitive to know all of them wanting to experience them. The science teacher as she enters the class checks the presence of Apoorwa then she calls the music room to recall her immediately to her class. Although it was conveyed she was practicing for a school event there was no redress. Apoorwa recollects spending more time in the music room while in the senior school Apoorwa did mention all her elder colleagues who became vocalists had spent time like her while in school in the music room. Of course when her mother received such complaints had told Apoorwa not to disgrace her For her Ordinary Level she had confessed did not take seriously to study had made a thoughtful exertion , But she had received excellent results seven ‘A’ s one ‘B’ and one ‘C’ obviously the B and C were for Maths and Science the subjects she hated. After her excellent results she could have easily selected science for her Advanced level but opted to follow ‘Arts’. Selecting as the main subject music then media ( her mother’s aptitude) and geography, the latter subject she loved as her geography teacher used to make her ‘swallow’ geography. After her results she had obtained a “A’ for music and two ‘B’ s with which she had entered the University of visual and performing arts with ease ,she is now in her third year.
The trainings that she was taught in the music room she recollects benefited her in her contemporary vocation as a vocalist somewhat of a sought after for her aptitude to sing in abundant of genres which was undoubtedly proved when all songs selected by her in the reality contest were greeted by all audiences in the exhausting Dream Star season 11 contest. It was after Apoorwa’s triumph becoming the second runner up at Derana Dream Star season 11 arduous contest in which over one thousand young vocalists had participated after which she became to be well known to the public in Sri Lanka and in many overseas countries.
From her very young age Apoorva has had a substantial curiosity to discover numerous trades .She has had an enormous inquisitiveness to prepare several types of nutritious food which she even continues today as she never likes to eat food from restaurants. In school she has had an interest in all subjects barring science and mathematics which she had hated from her young days though she obtained simple passes at the ordinary level examination. .But her mother had never forced on her anything or her mother had never forced her to study wanted her to choose her subjects and to be independent. She believed that it is our teachers who could elevate us but also who could stem us down to some extent which she felt was according to her own knowledge. Owing to this reason there had been a time when in her advanced level class instead of attending to classes in school she had attended private classes as the attitudes of three teachers made her to refrain from attending advanced level classes in the year thirteen although her mother who was a teacher had forced her to attend , Apoorwa recollected in a television dialogue that she was made to mentally suffer owing to very unpleasant ,hostile attitudes of these teachers. The triumph in entering the university was a gigantic victory and a colossal contentment to Apoorwa. The teachers had classified Apoorwa as a student who can never enter university barring her music teacher ‘Priyanka’ who had said she will get over her music subject, who had even taught her about life. Yet she entered to the University of Visual and Performing Arts along with two other students which astonished her class teacher who has had very diminutive confidences and expectations for Apoorwa’s triumph.
At a recent television dialog Apoorwa was referred to as Neha-Kakkar the Indian female vocalist as her voice is similar to hers. The presenter added that the first time she heard Apoorva sing had spotted her voice similar to the Indian counterpart , adding further the presenter said her voice is a rare pleasing, soothing to ear one at times heard too her possessed a rare ‘saragee’ voice.
Apoorwa had on her own sent the application for the TV Derana Dream Star season 11 contest for which her mother had disliked ,Anyhow as she progressed forward among thousands of contestants her mother was used to lend her patronage by watching her sing with her son.As in previous seasons final ten contestants were given the luxury to enter the music academy where teachers and stalwarts train and guide them. Coincidentally all three Apoorwa Ashawaree , Visdusha Rajaguru and Anjali Herath were assigned to the same room when the trio had to make tea and dwell by which the friendship and attachment had strengthened and grown. .They were named appropriately as ‘Thun Tharu Tharuniyo’ appropriately by Gihan When the all three were selected to for the final it was a sheer coincidence as for the first time in the history of the contest Out of the ten selected five were boys and five girls.There had been no such competition as all three sang in their own inimitable styles in diverse genres to each other.Of course the final is selected through the process of ‘sms’s polled not on the strength of the performances
Apoorwa has added that there are so many young talents in the country unfortunately to showcase their talents there are only a fewer opportunity. She had discovered that the talents in singing, acting and dancing of many are to unprecedented tall heights, as such she feels for them as they do not have good platforms to showcase their talents.
Immediately after the triumph the producer cum Director of the Deran Dream Star and so many other TV derana programs Sharmila Dharmarasa Fonseka had asked Apoorva whether she like to portray a role in a Avurudu Telefilm to which Apoorwa had reluctantly consented.When she was given the scrip to portray the role of an insane character. On reading the script Apoorwa had not been able to grasp anything had been baffled had said ‘Melo Haththilakwath Therune nehe’ as she was novice to the field.Then Harshika Ratnayake had taken the responsibility to train Apoorwa from A to Z in the script what she had to do.Apoorwa had not known earlier that to portray a role one has to be that identical person hence needed to be that person.Harshika had sacrificed a lot to make Apoorwa portray the role given.Apoorwa had received assistance from the experienced director Sharmila , Gyathri , Harshika and the entire crew also from Sanjaya who played an opposite role to Apoorwa.
Subsequently Laksiri Wickremage having identified Apoorwa’s image and talent had offered her a role in the TV Derana produced Sangeethe 2where Apoorwa had done justice It is well known that Laksiri possess the knack to select ideal novice actors and actresses for roles in the Sangeetha teledrama. It should be emphasized that Apoorwa along with Aksha and Raveen sing the theme song of Sageethe season 2 teledrama titled ‘Sandaress Wesse’.
During the Derana Dream Star season 11 Apoorwa had to select a number of songs, a few are recollected as ‘Mal Mal Hina’, ‘Udurawee’, ‘ ‘Sabandini’, ‘Senkadagala Nuwarata’, ‘Denena Thru Ma’, ‘Tharakawa’, ‘Rejinata Anda’, ‘Anna Sudoo’,’Kaali’, ‘Suwanda Dene Dene’, ‘Mama Taxi Karaya’, Sathyai Obe Darshane’, ‘Sithin Vitharak’, ‘Thawama Pana Thiyenawa’, ‘Palamuwa Sihase’, Hindi song ‘Dil Ko Karaar Aaya’ etc also she sung in many group songs. Many Mashaps as ‘Senkada Nuwarata’.
Apoorwa had sung many cover songs as ‘Maahi Ve’ etc, also Apoorwa has recorded ten songs with new music compositions on Golden Sinhala tracks
Very often Apoowa is invited to chat programs in numerous television channels.In addition she is invited for many concerts both open air and indoor concerts where she sings songs to diverse audiences according to their tastes which are appreciated. By participating to many recordings and attending to her University studies now in third year leaves Apoorwa so occupied at time she finds difficult to cope with her work.
Apoorwa had sung many time in the Swarnavahini weekly program ‘Ahankara Nagare’ with Zesta, A few songs she sung recently were ‘Hankitha Kawana’ original artist was Meena Prasadini, ‘Rosa Pethi’ of Chamara Weerasinghe and ‘Sithin Vitharak’ also of Chamara Weerasinghe
Apoorwa had been particularly busy in preparing for her own music video songs ‘Seethala Harduwaka; Sinhala version of Yasith Kelabiarachchi,Paranna Epa and ,’Nuba Dun E’ etc.
Apoorwa is now towing with young popular acter Sanjaya Muramudali for the past two years or so,Do not intent marrying yet as Apoorwa needs to complete her music degree at the university of visual and performing arts after which she proposes to become a lecturer in the same university also she intend to commence a clothing business under her brand name.Henc e does not focus on marriage yet.Sanjaya at a television dialogue added that while associating with Apoorwa he has found her to agree with his qualities though he had many actresses in his acting career, also for him too marriage will not take place soon.
