“BEAUTIFUL BAILA” – by Des Kelly
This was sent to me by my brother Ian who now lives permanantly in Sri Lanka. He has always known about my taste in music and it is without hesitation that this video goes straight into my Kelly Klassics.
I have watched many Lankan Artistes backed up by this band & a guy named ‘Subasinghe’ who is himself ‘a Star’ as far as I am concerned, and this particular ‘group’ of Musos are, or were, the BEST, by far, as far as I am concerned, and the Vocalist Keerthi Pasquel has always been my favourite ‘Singing Star’ of Sri Lanka. In addition, he is one of the very best ‘Ambassadors’ of Music from Lanka. I met him many years ago when he came to Melbourne, and, although he didn’t speak too much English at the time, struck me as a humble, easy-going individual who was not just a Singer, but also an extremely talented guitarist & electric-bassist.
I would be extremely happy to see, not only this particular video on e’Lanka, but also the video featuring Keerthi Pasquel with one of my own favourite songs by him entitled ‘Bolanda Kathaa’
as a special BONUS for all e’Lanka Members & Readers. Here folks, is what ‘Beautiful Baila’ plus ‘Beautiful Singing’ is all about. In addition to all the Music, to reminisce about ‘old Ceylon’ (now Sri Lanka), there could be absolutely nothing better. Here he is, Ladies & Gentlemen, the one & only Keerthi Pasquel.
