The Eighty Club Melbourne hosted another sell-out Christmas party at the Grand on Princes, and apart from it being a resounding success, it also generated important funds for the projects they are involved in helping the underprivileged in Sri Lanka.
Over 400 guests crammed the popular venue that has over the years given the Eighty Club generous support for its worthy cause.
Eighty Club President Esther Knower acknowledged the ongoing support and commitment from Grand on Princes owner Allan towards this popular charity event while mentioning that there will be a serious consideration this time to use part of the proceeds towards the victims of devastating cyclones and floods that has created havoc in the Island nation. A special subcommittee will discuss the details of the financial support in this regard, she said.
She also thanked her tireless committee who worked hard to make the event an outstanding success. Angelo Herft, George de Vos, Allan Pinder and Jennifer Speck Livera received special mention in this regard.
Fantastic dance band Next Generation had the dance floor packed for most of the night and the large numbers that attended the event were squeezed to touching distance as a result.
Fabulous music and a generous smorgasbord dinner made it a night to remember as revellers also cashed in on entrance ticket and raffle draw prizes that made it that extra special.
A segment of Christmas Carols involving the band and the crowd ushered in the reason for the season, the birth of Jesus Christ.
It was a very special and wonderful evening.
Thanks Jerome and Rochelle Varney for your photo contribution as usual.
