Gem-studded artefact recovered in Matara-by PRIYAN DE SILVA

Acting on a tip-off received by the Army intelligence unit, the military and the Matara Police in a joint operation carried out in Naimana, on Saturday (29) evening apprehended four persons who were transporting a gem-studded miniature stupa in a car.
The four occupants of the vehicle, residents of Katana, Ragama, Padukka and Karandawa were detained and when produced before the Matara magistrate on Sunday (30) were remanded till the 8th of May. Further investigations are being conducted by the Matara Police.
