GOD’S GARDEN

God looked around his garden and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the Earth and saw your tired face
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest
With the help of his angels they flew you to your heavenly place
Gods garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best
He knew you were suffering, he knew you were in pain
He knew that you would never get well on Earth again
He saw the road was getting rough and the hills too hard to climb
He closed your weary eyelids and whispered “Peace be Thine”
It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn’t go alone
For part of us went with you the day God called you home.

Obituary

Ralph Clive Amerasinghe, Age 75, peacelully passed into the arms of Jesus on the 29th June 2024 after a long battle with cancer. The world lost an amazing man, husband, further, son, brother, grandfather and friend. He touched the lives of so many and will continue to be in our hearts forever. Until the very end he w‹is surrounded by loving family and friends, and transitioned to eternal life in true Ralph Amerasinghe style – with grace and humility.

Ralph came into this world August 3rd 1948, born in Kandy Sri Lanka to the late Lucien and Gwendoline Amerasinghe. He was an proud old boy of St Thomas’ College Gurutalawa where he excelled in his studies. At school Ralph was an all-rounder, champion sportsman and an all island swimming champion. After graduating from school he went onto a successful career as a Tea Planter, and played an active role across numerous community groups, social clubs, and boards.

After migrating to Australia in 1991 with his family he continued to be involved in the Sri-Lankan community, always willing to support and help those in need. He was passionate about nature, loved gardening, enjoyed travelling, and was an explorer at heart.

Most importantly Ralph was a family man who was adored and cherished dearly. Ralph is survived by his wife of 49 years Mignonne, and 3 children Ralph (Junior), Natasha, Naidine, sister Christine Jayawardena, late-brother Peter Amerasinghe, 7 grand-children, 2 son in-laws, and d‹iughter in-law.

Please join us in honouring and celebrating the life of Ralph.
