International Cast of La Bamba! The Song of Veracruz Set to Perform at City of Dreams Sri Lanka!

Sri Lankan audiences are in for a spectacular theatrical experience this April as the international cast of La Bamba! The Song of Veracruz takes the stage at City of Dreams Sri Lanka, hosted at The Forum, Cinnamon Life, Colombo. The West End–licensed production brings together world-class performers from the UK, Europe, and North America alongside Sri Lankan talent, promising a truly global musical event.
Produced in collaboration with the John Keells Foundation and directed by London-based theatre producer Paul Morrissey, the show delivers an immersive experience of Latin music, storytelling, and high-energy choreography. The production features 19 performers, supported by 6 live musicians and a technical and creative crew of over 40 members, with full West End-standard stage design that reflects the show’s scale and ambition.
Meet the International Cast
Madalena Alberto as Elena
Originally from Lisbon, Portugal, Madalena Alberto is a celebrated West End actress whose career includes leading roles such as Fantine in Les Misérables, Grizabella in Cats, and the title role in Evita at London’s Dominion Theatre. Her theatre credits also include Chicago, On Your Feet, Carousel, Piaf, and Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds. On screen, she appears in the BBC series The Gold and Lifetime’s Tempted 2 Love. In La Bamba!, she brings her powerful vocals and commanding stage presence to the role of Elena.
Eduardo Enríquez as Ricardo
Eduardo Enríquez is a seasoned international performer with an extensive theatre résumé spanning the US, UK, and Europe. His credits include On Your Feet (London Coliseum / UK Tour), A Christmas Carol (South Coast Repertory), The Secret Garden (Pacific Conservatory Theatre), Miss Saigon, and Cabaret (Los Angeles). Enríquez has also appeared in television series such as The Bridge (FX) and multiple independent films. He plays the passionate and charismatic Ricardo in this production.
Tim Mahendren as Mateo
A West End performer, Tim Mahendren has appeared in Just For One Day (Shaftesbury Theatre), The Time Traveller’s Wife (Apollo Theatre), and the original West End cast of & Juliet. Other credits include The Midnight Gang (Chichester Festival Theatre) and Spring Awakening (Hope Mill Theatre). His television appearances include Stath Lets Flats and The Horne Section (Channel 4). In La Bamba!, he plays Mateo.
Mychele LeBrun as Lupe / Miss Pena
Canadian-born Mychele LeBrun, now based in London, brings international stage experience to the production. Her highlights include Police Cops: The Musical (Edinburgh Fringe & Southwark Playhouse), the Thursford Christmas Spectacular, and Disney Entertainment productions such as Aladdin, Frozen, and Big Band Beat. She regularly performs in concerts, cabarets, and restaurants around London.
Charlotte Dos Santos Chabi as Sofia
Making her professional debut, Charlotte Dos Santos Chabi trained at the D&B Academy of Performing Arts. La Bamba! marks her first major stage role, where she performs as Sofia, supported by the guidance of the international cast and production team.
With seven performances across five days, including two matinee shows, audiences have multiple opportunities to witness the musical. La Bamba! blends live music, dance, and storytelling inspired by Mexican heritage, incorporating anthems from Latin pop and folk traditions, and showcases the vibrancy and passion of international musical theatre.
City of Dreams have positioned La Bamba! not just as a musical performance but as a strategic step toward positioning Colombo as a South Asian entertainment hub, enhancing soft-value tourism, and demonstrating the city’s capability to host large-scale international productions.
