Motherland African Festival rocks Liverpool

The Mayor of Liverpool, Ned Mannoun, is excited to invite the community to experience the return of the Motherland African Festival in 2025, part of the highly anticipated Experience the World Series.

Following the incredible success of the past two years, the event will once again showcase the vibrant cultures of Africa with an exciting mix of food, music, and entertainment.

The festival is set to take place from Friday, 11 April to Sunday, 13 April 2025, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM each night at Macquarie Mall, Liverpool.

“We are incredibly proud to host the Motherland African Festival once again in Liverpool, a city that is known for its rich multicultural community,” said Mayor Ned Mannoun.

“This festival offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the diverse and beautiful cultures of Africa, and I encourage everyone to come out and experience the delicious food, vibrant performances, and lively atmosphere.”

The Motherland African Festival has grown in popularity, with impressive attendance figures in previous years (44,000 in 2023 and 56,000 in 2024) and is expected to draw larger crowds in 2025.

“This festival is a true reflection of the cultural diversity that makes Liverpool such a vibrant place to live and visit,” Mayor Mannoun added.

“With a rich lineup of African cuisine, music, and arts, there is something for everyone—whether you’re a food lover, music enthusiast, or simply looking to enjoy a fun family outing.”

Festival highlights include:

  • A blend of African cuisine from countries like Nigeria, Sudan, Egypt, Ethiopia, and South Africa,
  • Afrobeats Lounge for dance enthusiasts to enjoy the contemporary rhythms of Afrobeats.
  • A marketplace with African apparel, accessories, homewares, and delicacies.
  • Live cultural performances from Ghana, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, Mauritius, and other African regions at the dynamic Mainstage.
  • Interactive workshops, including free hair braiding, face painting, and drumming sessions.

“The Motherland African Festival is not just an event; it’s a celebration of culture, unity, and the unique blend of African traditions that enrich our community,” said Mayor Mannoun. “We hope to see you there for an unforgettable experience!”
