NSW YOUNG NATIONALS JENNY GARDINER SCHOLARSHIP
The NSW Young Nationals are proud to announce the return of the Jenny Gardiner Scholarship.
The Hon Jenny Gardiner has made an indelible contribution to the NSW Nationals.
A Party member for more than 50 years and a Life Member, Jenny was the NSW Nationals’ General Secretary from 1984-1991, and then a Member of the Legislative Council for almost 24 years.
To honour Jenny’s contribution, the NSW Young Nationals are announcing the return of the Jenny Gardiner Scholarship, which was first offered in 2014.
The Scholarship is a Young Nationals initiative to financially assist students from rural and regional NSW who want to study at university or undertake an apprenticeship.
One scholarship, for $1000, will be for a student who grew up in the regions, and has had to relocate to a metropolitan area for their studies.
Another scholarship, also for $1000, will be for a student who is attending a regional education institution.
Selection criteria can be found on the website below, but the winners must have lived in regional NSW for at least the past two years, be under the age of 35, and be an Australian citizen.
Scholarship applications will be judged by a committee whose members include the Hon Jenny Gardiner, the Hon Sarah Mitchell MLC, and NSW Young Nationals Chair Jayden Whaites.
Applications are open now, and will close at 5pm on Friday, December 14, 2024. The successful applicants will be announced in February 2025.
The scholarship recipients will be granted free membership of the NSW Young Nationals, and will be given the opportunity for an internship with a Nationals Member of Parliament or the State or Federal Secretariats.
