Sri Lanka Cricket’s Executive Committee mutually agreed with Tom Moody, who was functioning as the “Director of, Cricket” to terminate his contract with immediate effect said senior official of the Sri Lanka Cricket(SLC).

The Executive Committee of the SLC, after much deliberation, was of the opinion that Tom Moody’s services are no longer required as he was directly reporting to the Technical Advisory Committee, which has ceased to exist now.

Moody’s appointment as the Director of Cricket, effective from March 1, 2021, was based on a recommendation by the Technical Advisory Committee of the SLC and Aravinda de Silva was the technical committee chairman those days .

Sri Lanka Cricket, while thanking Tom for his contribution to the game of cricket in Sri Lanka during his tenure, wishes him very best for his future endeavours.

Tom Moody commented, “It was a privilege to render my service to SLC again and I’m proud of what I managed to achieve during my term with the guidance of the Technical Advisory Committee.”

Meanwhile SLC further extended the services of Mahela Jayawardena as the Coaching consultant to the SLC. Mahela Jayawardena the former skipper and Mumbai Indians former head coach now promoted to Higher post of the same Mumbai Indians team already committed to give his service to the SLC.

The President of the SLC recently said he has to think about Tom Moody’ s service while Mahela Jayawardena always doing a decent job as a consultant. Mahela Jayawardena is always a silent character but his service is more important to develop Sri Lanka Cricket. The availability of Mahela gives a boost for the National cricket team for the forthcoming T -20 World Cup is very worthy at this stage.

Actually Mahela’s appointment is not a new one and he is doing his consultant duty for the last one and half years including last T-20 World Cup and few other cricket tournaments. Mahela already is closely working with Sri Lanka Cricket selection committee.
