Lockdown or no lockdown, next month’s Sri Lanka NSW Catholic Association’s Spring Fair is shaping up to be a joyous and entertaining event.

SLNSWCA secretary Christian Don-Rukantha said because of the lockdown, they will be holding their inaugural event online on Saturday, October 2.

The event is one of the major events in the association’s calendar and will feature musical and comedy acts, dance routines, magic shows and anything which can be performed online via Zoom.

“This is our first Spring Fiesta because we have been in lockdown and haven’t been able to host any physical events,” Christian said.

“The purpose is purely for entertainment and to take people’s mind off the lockdown; It is a free event and there is no fundraising initiative.”

Christian said the association needs the support of the members and non-members to make it a successful evening.

The Sri Lanka NSW Catholic Association was begun in 2009 and provides information for members and non-members throughout the year. It serves as an invaluable source for mass details for Sunday masses and special services, reaching out to thousands across Australia and even overseas.

Christian said they are requesting volunteers for their music acts, dances, magic shows, and comedy stretches and any entertainment which can be done virtually.

Anyone who can help or support, please contact the association before Friday, September 24.
