Spring Fair to lift our moods during lockdown By Lawrence Machado Lockdown or no lockdown, next month’s Sri Lanka NSW Catholic Association’s Spring Fair is shaping up to be a joyous and entertaining event. SLNSWCA secretary Christian Don-Rukantha said because of the lockdown, they will be holding their inaugural event online on Saturday, October 2. The event is one of the major events in the association’s calendar and will feature musical and comedy acts, dance routines, magic shows and anything which can be performed online via Zoom. “This is our first Spring Fiesta because we have been in lockdown and haven’t been able to host any physical events,” Christian said. “The purpose is purely for entertainment and to take people’s mind off the lockdown; It is a free event and there is no fundraising initiative.” Christian said the association needs the support of the members and non-members to make it a successful ...

Greetings from the President 2020/2021 of SLNSWCA (Sri Lanka NSW Catholic Association) Dear Brothers and Sisters, As I write this message to you, a teaching from Our Lord Jesus Christ comes to my mind. It was a great lesson that Jesus taught his disciples at the last supper.  “When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”(John 13: 12-15)  We ought to remember this teaching of Jesus everyday as we serve our community.
