THE FINAL OF TV DERANA’S TWELTH EDITION OF DERANA DREAM STAR ON SATURDAY THE 17th JANUARY AT THE SUGATHADASA INDOOR STADIUM AT 7.30 PM-By Sunil Thenabadu
The gruelling Derana Dream Star Season 12 competition has now reached the final stages with the final three contestants elected two male contestants, Anupama Gunatilleke, Brian Hanks and only female contestant Janani Imathma chosen purely on the number votes cast by the passionate music fraternity. All arrangements are finalized to have the grand finale at the Sugathadasa Indoor stadium at 7.30 PM on Saturday the 17th instant.
This is the twelfth edition of the Derana Dream Star conducted by TV Derana, which is undoubtedly the most widespread reality competition watched by a gigantic audience. When applications are called by the authorities of the TV Derana thousands apply with high hopes .Through several auditions conducted by Sri Lanka’s prominent vocalists and musicians seventy two were selected when the television telecast begun. Each week on Saturdays and Sundays one or two contestants were eliminated according to the SMS’s votes polled by viewers. In this season twelve towards the latter part contestants needed to sing in several rounds of vocals. Lately the final contestants six had to sing in four weekends which was an exhausting exercise before the elimination of one.. In the latter rounds the SMS’s polled were around Six hundred thousand by each contestant which clearly shows the grim journey the contestants had to go through as definitely the contestants too had to make their own SMS campaigns .In this background TV Derana has benefited also by this opportunity to showcase their talents with adequate valuable air time the contestants too have been benefited to enhance their fame and showcase their talent.It is difficult to predict the winner as to who will triumph at the final but on paper with comments of the panel in numerous rounds Janani Imathma has the edge over the other two male contestants with abundant of genuine comments continuously made by the panel of adjudicators V.i.Z, Keerthi Pasquel,Samitha Mudunkotuwa, Indrachaapa Liyanage, Nadeeka Guruge, Samantha Perera and Kushani
