There are good apples among the bad? A change in the political and sporting landscape? Tribute to the Three Rugby Players in Sri Lanka’s Working Task Force
(Latta · Marso · Ravi)
In times of turmoil, when tempers burned,
And Sri Lanka Rugby’s faith seemed overturned,
Three men stood firm, their hearts aflame —
To guard the honour of the noble game.
Latta, the lion — steady and wise,
With vision that reached beyond the skies.
A soldier’s calm, a leader’s might,
He steered the ship through many a storm and night.
Marso, the craftsman — bold and fair,
With passion and purpose beyond compare.
Where rules were bent and lines were blurred,
His steady hand firmly restored the word.
Ravi, the cornerstone — firm and profound,
A tight-head prop on a different ground.
With courage anchored, resolve unshaken,
He held the scrum firm when trust was taken.
His words became the binding force,
That kept often the challenged Task on a righteous course.
They faced the courts, the critics, the crowd,
Yet never faltered, nor unbowed.
When enemies within conspired in disguise,
Swift and firm came just replies.
Each schemer met their rightful place,
With truth and courage, face to face.
With Sumathi’s wisdom lighting the way,
They kept the wolves of chaos at bay.
When judgments fell and justice rang,
Sri Lanka Rugby rose and sang.
Through writ and trial, deceit and blame,
They stood as guardians of the game.
