Vision Care Powers Hockey Development and Eye Health at Janadhipathi Balika Vidyalaya, Nawala

26th September 2025, Colombo:  Vision Care, Sri Lanka’s leading vision, hearing, and eyewear solutions provider, collaborated with Janadhipathi Balika Vidyalaya, Nawala, to support their sports and athletic programs with a special focus on hockey. This initiative has already delivered results, with the school’s hockey team proudly lifting the Girls’ Gold Medal at the recently concluded All-Island School Games Hockey Championships organized by the Ministry of Education in Colombo.

To celebrate this remarkable victory, Vision Care organized a special felicitation ceremony for the hockey team and presented them with gifts in recognition of their hard work and outstanding performance.

Janadhipathi Balika Vidyalaya has a proud history of producing talented athletes and has consistently performed well at school-level tournaments, despite facing challenges such as limited resources and facilities. With Vision Care’s involvement, the school community is now more motivated than ever to aim higher and continue building on its winning legacy.

Kasun Wijesena, Marketing Manager of Vision Care, stated, “This initiative highlights Vision Care’s strong commitment to empowering youth, fostering sporting excellence, and advancing overall well-being. At Vision Care, we believe that empowering young athletes means investing in the future of Sri Lanka. Hockey is a sport that demands speed, focus, and sharp vision, and we are proud to play a part in ensuring that these players have the clarity and confidence they need to succeed. Our commitment goes beyond eye care as we aim to inspire, uplift, and give the next generation the tools they need to excel, both on and off the field.”

In addition to supporting sports development, Vision Care also distributed the ‘Vision Care Eye Screening and Educational Toolkit’ to the school. This initiative enables students to undergo basic eye screening, provides valuable education on eye health, and promotes clear vision as a foundation for academic success and athletic performance.

Vision Care hopes to continue supporting Janadhipathi Balika Vidyalaya in its future hockey, sporting, and health development efforts, while also extending similar programs to other schools across the country. Through initiatives like this, the company aims to raise awareness about the critical role of eye health in sports performance, encourage early detection of vision issues, and inspire more students to confidently pursue sports and achieve their full potential.
