There’s just four of them, but the music they produce is mind blowing.
Wildfire from Sri Lanka is no run -of -the -mill set up, they are a Band that genuine music lovers will be enthralled to take in for their amazing talent.
They are a set-up that jelled musically a few decades ago getting rave reviews, but although they have gone their separate ways, getting together for tours on past reputation, they just melt into the mould like they were never apart.
Master promoter Bertie Ekanaike has his finger on the pulse when it comes to music and musicians, and he knows how good these guys are and what they bring to the table musically.
An example of the magnetic impact Wildfire has on their fans and followers is the clamour to ‘be there’, from guys like Ricky Gunawijeya who come out of the woodwork when they perform.
Derek Wickremanayake, Shafi, Chris Dhason and Coba form and awesome combination that can draw a crowd anywhere.
Surprisingly, there are still tickets available for this musical experience with a difference at the Grand on Princes. And anyone wanting to enjoy a wonderful night musically with dinner and drinks, should seriously be there.
There’s no guarantee that this highly talented set-up will reband, so it could be their curtain call that will make it so memorable.
Lining up in a backup capacity is the fabulous Replay 6 who are trend setters in their own right in the Melbourne dance scene. There will be no lack of quality music wise.
What will be of special interest between the bands, will definitely be the delivery between three of the best lead guitarists in Derek Wickremanayake and Shafi S Shafi from Wildfire and David Trower from Replay 6 which would be a facinating duel. They are extremely talented at their craft.
