Let’s try to made sri lankan milk toffee – By Malsha – eLanka

Milk toffee is a popular Sri Lankan sweet treat. It is a type of fudge made from condensed milk, sugar, and butter, with various flavorings such as vanilla or cardamom added for extra taste. Milk toffee is usually cooked on a stovetop until the mixture thickens and caramelizes, and then it is poured into a greased tray to cool and set. Once it’s firm, it can be cut into squares or diamond shapes.

Milk toffee is often enjoyed as a dessert or snack in Sri Lanka, especially during festive occasions like weddings, New Year celebrations, or religious festivals. It has a rich and creamy texture with a sweet, caramel flavor. Some variations may also include nuts or raisins for added texture and taste.

If you’re interested in making milk toffee , Follow below steps and instructions .

Milk toffee - elanka (1)

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chopped nuts (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Grease a square or rectangular baking dish or tray and set it aside.
  2. In a large, heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, sugar, and butter.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir continuously to combine the ingredients and prevent them from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  4. Continue stirring the mixture as it heats up and the sugar dissolves. You’ll notice the mixture thickening and the color changing to a light caramel shade.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and cook the mixture, stirring constantly, for about 20-25 minutes, or until it thickens further and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan. Be careful not to let it burn.
  6. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Mix well.
  7. Pour the hot mixture into the greased baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts (such as cashews or almonds) over the top for added texture and flavor.
  9. Allow the milk toffee to cool and set at room temperature for a few hours or until firm.
  10. Once completely cooled and set, cut the milk toffee into squares or diamond shapes using a sharp knife.
  11. Store the milk toffee in an airtight container at room temperature. It can be enjoyed immediately or kept for several days.

Enjoy your homemade milk toffee!
