Sri Lanka suffered their second successive defeat, losing their third game in the Under-19 Women’s T20 Tri-Series 2024 encounter against Australia by four runs yesterday.

Batting first Australia Women made 116 in their allotted 20 overs. Samara Dulvin and Ines McKeon made 45 and 22 respectively. Hiruni Hansika shone with the ball for Sri Lanka as she ended with figures of two for 22.

In reply, Sri Lanka made a promising start to their inning through opening batter Sanjana Kavindi and number three batter Vimoshka Balasuriya.

Both made good starts to their respective innings but couldn’t take Sri Lanka home.

After the dismissal of Kavindi and Balasuriya the Sri Lankan innings didn’t gain any momentum through their middle-order batting.

Despite the loss, Sri Lanka remains in the second spot with their win against New Zealand in the opening game.

Chief scores: Australia Under-19 Women: 116/6 in 20 overs Samara Dulvin 45, Ines McKeon 22, Hiruni Hansika 2/22)

Sri Lanka Under-19 Women: 112 in 20 overs (Vimoshka Balasuriya 40, Sanjana Kavindi 29, Amy Hunter 2/9, Hasrat Gill 2/17). Agencies
