“Revolution in Farming: Shaktiman’s Baler and Dhaan Mitram Rotavator Debut in Sri Lanka”

Shaktiman India (Tirth Agro Technology Private Limited), the world’s largest manufacturer of rotary tillers, has officially introduced two of its advanced agricultural machines — the Shaktiman Baler and the 9-feet “Dhaan Mitram” Rotavator — to the Sri Lankan market for the very first time. The exclusive launch was carried out by Overseas Automotive Pvt. Ltd. at an Agricultural Machinery Demonstration held on Thursday, 31st July 2025, in Kilinochchi. The event marked a bold new chapter in the modernization of Sri Lankan agriculture.

Joining the occasion were senior representatives from Shaktiman India, Raghupathi Reddy and Uttam Kumar Nayak, who were present in Sri Lanka to support the launch and engage directly with dealers and farmers through technical demonstrations and field interactions.

The event drew a strong turnout of over 150 participants, including dignitaries, farmers, dealers, and mechanics. Among the attendees were Hon. Sivagnanam Shritharan, Member of Parliament, and Mr. P. Thavarasa, Provincial Councilor of Vavuniya, who officially declared the event open, underscoring the importance of mechanized solutions in revitalizing the Northern and Eastern agricultural landscape.

The live demonstration and proceedings were held across two field locations near Paranthan Junction, Kilinochchi, with guests gathering afterward for presentations and lunch at the Bharathi Resort, Kilinochchi.

The Shaktiman Baler is expected to offer a sustainable solution for managing crop residue by converting straw into compact, transportable bales that can be repurposed for animal feed, composting, biomass energy, and other practical uses. By providing a viable alternative to field burning, this technology encourages more responsible residue management, marking a major step forward in mechanized farming for Sri Lankan paddy fields.

The Dhaan Mitram 9-feet Rotavator, on the other hand, is specially designed to prepare large paddy fields more efficiently. Its superior tilling performance, wider working width, and fuel efficiency are projected to help farmers save both time and operational costs.

“We’re proud to introduce these world-class machines to Sri Lanka for the first time,” said Asvinash Ramachandran, Managing Director of Overseas Automotive Pvt. Ltd. “The Shaktiman Baler and 9ft Dhaan Mitram Rotavator are engineered to help farmers maximize productivity, reduce operational costs, and transition toward a more sustainable, tech-driven future. This launch is just the beginning — we’re committed to bringing global innovation to every Sri Lankan field.”
