Jayam of “Good News” Hospitalized in Bangkok for 21 days – Good News is, he is back home in Glendora! Thank you all for your love and prayers!

Jayam Rutnam of Glendora, California, recently experienced a serious medical emergency while traveling abroad.
In January 2026, Jayam visited his birthplace, Sri Lanka, for one week. From there, he embarked on a cruise out of Singapore to the Far East. During the voyage, he became critically ill and was disembarked in Bangkok, where he was transported by ambulance to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.
His wife, Gina, and his sister, Paddy Johns, remained faithfully by his side throughout the ordeal. Jayam was diagnosed with Influenza “A,” which developed into pneumonia, a form of coronavirus infection, and E. coli. He spent 14 days in the Intensive Care Unit fighting for his life.
Thanks to the dedicated medical team and the many prayers offered on his behalf, Jayam survived this life-threatening crisis. After being moved to a regular hospital room to recuperate, he was given medical clearance one week later to return by plane to Los Angeles. Upon his return to Glendora, his doctor advised that it may take several months for him to fully recover. Jayam lost 15 pounds during his illness and remains very weak, but he is steadily regaining his strength. Jayam wishes to express his deepest gratitude to his wife, Gina, and his sister, Paddy, for their constant love, strength, and unwavering support. He is also profoundly thankful to his daughter, Aliki, and his son, Jean-Louis, who flew to Bangkok from the United States to be with him during this critical time. Finally, he extends heartfelt thanks to all who prayed for his recovery. It was truly a miracle that he survived, and he remains deeply grateful for every expression of care, concern, and faith shown to him and his family.
