Autumn Landscape – By Charmaine Candappa

Charmaine Candappa

Autumn

The days are short and dark, as the wind rustles its leaves gently.
Huge trees explode in colors of orange, wine, and saffron, some a blushing pink and flame.
The Elm lifts its branches to a stately arch above beside the Oak that stands massive and tall.
The brooding Cypress remains always green while chipmunks scrabble down trees gathering fruit and nuts, storing it in their burrows.

Mushrooms sprout up from from the damp earth, as a spider’s web glistens in the morning light.
Delicate dragonflies seem to be suspended in the air.
And a brood of ducks swim across the pond hoping to nestle across the swamp.
I hear the symphony of the wind and observe the amazing beauty of Creation.
