Banana Chocolate Bread Recipe ( For Christmas Table )- By Malsha – eLanka

Banana Chocolate Bread Recipe (1)

This easy Banana Chocolate Bread recipe is made using ripe bananas, cocoa powder, and chocolate chips to create a soft, moist, and rich homemade bake. Perfect for tea time, breakfast, or as a sweet snack, this chocolate banana bread is simple to prepare and ideal for home bakers. A delicious way to use overripe bananas and enjoy a classic chocolate-banana flavour combination.

Ingredients

  • Ripe bananas – 3 (about 350 g peeled)

  • Unsalted butter – ½ cup (113 g), cooled

  • Sugar – ⅓ cup (67 g)
(Use more if you like it extra sweet)

  • All-purpose flour – 1 cup (120 g)

  • Cocoa powder – ⅓ cup (35 g)

  • Eggs – 2

  • Baking soda – 1 tsp

  • Salt – ½ tsp

  • Chocolate chips – 1 cup

Method

  1. Preheat the oven
    Preheat your oven to 175°C.

  2. Prepare dry ingredients
    In a bowl, sift together:

    • Flour

    • Cocoa powder

    • Baking soda

    • Salt
      Mix well and keep aside.

  3. Mash the bananas
Mash the ripe bananas well and set aside.

  4. Cream butter and sugar
Beat the butter and sugar together for about 3 minutes until creamy.

  5. Add eggs
Add the eggs and beat for about 30 seconds.

  6. Add bananas
Add the mashed bananas and beat for another 30 seconds.

  7. Add dry ingredients
Add the flour mixture and beat for about 1 minute, just until combined.

  8. Add chocolate chips
Fold in ¾ cup of the chocolate chips using a spoon.

  9. Prepare the tray
Pour the batter into a greased loaf tin
    (22 × 12 × 5 cm).

  10. Top with chips
Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top.

  11. Bake
Bake for 55 minutes to 1 hour.
After about 50 minutes, gently pull out the rack and check with a skewer or toothpick.

  12. Cool
Let the bread cool before slicing.

Important Tips

  • Butter should be cooled, not hot.
(If taken from the fridge, you can soften it slightly in the microwave.)

  • Use very ripe, sweet bananas. Do not use sour or under-ripe bananas.

  • Oven temperatures may vary, so always check early.

  • Measurements were done using measuring cups. Gram measurements are approximate.

  • For extra sweetness, you can double the sugar amount.
