Success – By Niranjan Selvadurai I raced up the mountain looking for you So many others were running up too To be the first and to be the best From childhood we train for this test   I went past many in my haste Some seemed tired some seemed dazed But reaching that summit was my solitary aim My unerring shot at wealth and fame   As slopes grew steeper less climbers I saw Many a fallen comrade on the mountain floor But if I fall back I must take the blame I thought I knew the rules of this game   Finally, I did conquer the mountain peak There your welcoming presence I seek  But the top was barren where no flowers bloom And you were nowhere, just the misty gloom   So where else could I venture from there? Need for that descending trek was clear But there ...

As the news trickled in about an Israeli strike inside Iran in the morning on Friday, it was not clear what really was going on in the Islamic Republic: the airspace was closed all of a sudden in the wee hours on Friday; there were reports about explosions in the city of Isfahan, the third largest Iranian city of immense cultural significance as well as the home for major military sites and above all, Iranian nuclear sites. The Iranian authorities downplayed the attack while reopening the airspace for flights in a couple of hours. The US military officials, meanwhile, had already ...

A.T. Ariyaratne and the Bauddha Jatika Balavegaya (BJB) A.T. Ariyaratne and the Bauddha Jatika Balavegaya (BJB) “I got disillusioned with politics. An idea was born in my mind that a social revolution minus political colouring should be staged. The Sarvodaya Shramadana movement was the outcome of this thinking” A.T. Ariyaratne The passing of A.T. Ariyaratne at the age of 92 years on April 16, 2024 removes from the national scene a colossus that straddled many spheres of local life and singularly gained international recognition for himself and his country to an unimaginable extent. SUNDAY CHOICE – GOD WATCHES OVER YOU – by Charles Schokman Psalm 121:5-8 NIV 5 The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; 6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. How many times has God protected you that you didn’t even know about? He stopped that car that should have hit you, stopped the person that wanted to harm you, stopped the trouble before it got to you. You never knew anything about it, but His hand of favour, protection, and mercy was watching after you, keeping you from harm’s way. Sure, we can all find reasons to live afraid, worried, uptight. But when you understand Who’s watching after you, Who’s ordering your steps, Who’s fighting your battles, Who’s holding back the darkness, then ...
