Josephians ring in the festive season The tone and spirit of the Christmas season was brought to the fore when the New South Wales Old Joes gathered for their annual Christmas Carols on 2 December at the Thornleigh Community Centre in Sydney. President Chrys Fernando, welcoming the packed house of 235 including some 40 children, reminded them of the reason for the season before the choir led the singing with the keen participation by all those present. STC Sydney OBA playing host to its 9th consecutive Carol Service Click here or on the photos below to view all the photos on eLanka facebook page Graced by Sydney’s renowned church organist Godelieve Ghavalas, a hush descended at All Saints Anglican Church, North Parramatta as Avanthi Jothidas set the dulcet tone for the night with the solo of “Once In Royal”. Thus began the 9th consecutive Carol Service organized by S.Thomas’ College Sydney OBA at precisely 6.30pm on 25th Nov 2017. Kumar Rasiah who so graciously assists with proceedings each year welcomed all and articulated that this was “not a concert” rather a night where congregational participation was called upon to enhance the singing and promote community spirit. My Fair Lady turns 95 – By Marie Pietersz: Melbourne   My Fair Lady turns 95: by Marie Pietersz  Gwen Pietersz (nee Bertus), the matriach of the Pietersz family, celebrated her 95th milestone birthday recently, choosing a private party in Ringwood to share with her heritage of four generations of Pieterszs. Her cake was a tribute to her long life and relationship with her family, the message reading, Queen Gwen, 95 Years Loved.  Gwendoline Amelia Bertus  was born in Colombo (Ceylon) on 27 October 1922 to parents Llewellyn (Lula) Bertus and Emma James.
