Children’s Festival calls for help

Children’s Festival calls for help

14.03.24

The Children’s Festival Organisations has appealed for community financial support to keep the event vibrant and meaningful in its 26th year.

Children’s Festival calls for help

The founding President of the Children’s Festival Organisation, Mr Thuat Nguyen AM, said today: “Over the past quarter of a century we have successfully staged Children’s Festivals across Sydney, attracting tens of thousands of participants from different cultural backgrounds to celebrate diversity and helping build social cohesion.

“It is certainly one of the major multicultural festivals in Sydney each year where the thoroughly multicultural nature of our society is on display.

“At these festivals, children showcase their talents, make new friends, learn from each other, enjoy each other’s cultures, and feel proud to live in multicultural Australia.

“The participation of so many children and their families, despite the current complicated world situation and the renewed fervour to come together in a post pandemic environment, demonstrates the Children’s Festival’s success in building community harmony and transcending demographic, cultural, and religious boundaries.

“Unfortunately, due to the high staging cost of the events, decreasing government funding and worsening economic conditions, we won’t be able to hold the Children’s Festival in Sydney’s Darling Harbour this year.

“We are working hard on preparation for the 2024 Canterbury-Bankstown Children’s Festival which is planned to be held on the 27th of October in Bankstown.

“Naturally it will include many innovations.

“We kindly ask for your generous donation to support the continued growth of the Children’s Festival in bringing the children of our community to play together and live in harmony”.

“Donations are tax-deductible. Please support our efforts to hold children’s festivals that help build a better world for all of us, starting with children because children are our future”, he said.
