And finally…. Our fiftieth anniversary celebration came to fruition on our third attempt….and in our 52nd year. “Figs on Sylvan” was beautifully decked out in the theme of black and orange on the tables and lanterns, with a splash of gold bathing the venue in fairy lights and sashes.
President Laurensz lauded the past Presidents, Executive and Committee members of the last 52 years as the cement which held together a club that has achieved so much in friendship and fellowship. Our special guest, Anton Swan OAM, spoke of the easy relationship Silver Fawn enjoyed in affiliation with other Sri Lankan Associations and with his role as Sri Lankan Consul. Denis Anthonisz led us on an entertaining romp through our history, highlighting our life members and the life of the club which has focussed on dances, picnics, camps, Have-a-Chats and various forays in the sporting arena.
Cool Daddies and Russel Lowe brought the dance floor to life with their lively and melodious music. There was foot tapping talent on display as well as outrageous moves destined to keep many a physio in business post function. Silver Fawn – the club for the good times!
It was so good to see so many old and much loved familiar faces join us. Silver Fawn royalty! Time did not unhinge the beautiful community that is Silver Fawn. A night of memories! A night to remember!
