Happy Easter: by Desmond Kelly “the Star of eLanka”

Another “Easter” is already upon us, although the fact is, that according to supermarkets all around us, Easter has been “with us” since immediately after Christmas, 2016. It would not matter if these merchants are losing money and about to go bankrupt perhaps Christmas/Easter combined, would be justified, but “supermarkets” in Australia seem to be making thumping profits with every year that goes by.

Why then, must Easter Eggs appear on their shelves and Easter Bunnies run rampant, the first week after the previous Christmas holidays? . Cannot understand this. Also, although the “Happy Easter” cards usually signify “Easter Sunday”, the day Jesus Christ rose from the dead, joined his followers and was finally resurrected into Heaven, too many people who celebrate this fact seem to forget that “Good Friday”,IS the saddest day in the Christian Year.

This is not a “Sermon” my friends. This is “Easter”, as it should be remembered SERIOUSLY.

Admitted, most Christians, and especially Roman Catholics do go to Church each Easter to “remember” the Man/God who gave up his own life for every “sinner” in the World as we know it. Jesus Christ, 33 year old carpenter (by trade), was better known as something of a rebel who, from a very early age, left the workshop of his foster father Joseph, also a carpenter, to go into a nearby “temple” to throw out the money-laundering, gambling “hoods” from the “House of God”, as the boy, Jesus, aged 12, called it.

Good News From Jayam October 15, 2025 – By Jayam Rutnam

Not much later, Jesus, together with his 12 chosen Apostles & many other “Desciples”/Followers & fans went around the Country, preaching the “Word” of HIS FATHER, GOD THE ALMIGHTY, doing HIS WILL, performing many “miracles” like raising the dead, as he did with a man named Lazarus, and, at the same time, making many enemies who claimed that among other things, Jesus said that he was the “King of the Jews”, In actual fact, as a baptised Roman Catholic myself, I do believe that Jesus Christ was not only the King of the Jews, HE was the “KING OF KINGS”, born of a Virgin named Mary & foster-father Joseph, who were picked out by GOD Himself. to be the “foster-parents” of HIS only SON. As a Christian, and although I could not possibly be termed a good Roman Catholic, myself, my true beliief is that “GOD IS”. There is only ONE GOD, and He is the “Spirit” in the “Catholic Trilogy” of known Christianity, namely GOD, THE FATHER, SON, & HOLY SPIRIT. The “Big Bang Theory”, in theory, is just a good television show. The scientific “B.B.T.” is CRAP, as far as I am concerned, anyway.

GOD, THE SON,(JESUS), was sent down by GOD, THE FATHER to save the World from sin. Jesus, finally, had to “suffer”morally, mentally & physically, the most horrendous torture ever inflicted on man, before HE succumbed, to die on a wooden cross on Mount Calvary. He was sentenced to death, even though he had committed no crime, a “crown” of sharp thorns, forced into his head, He was severely beaten, spat on, his clothes, ragged and torn, he was then forced to lug this heavy wooden cross to Calvery, stumbling and even collapsing on the way. As if to humiliate him even further, Jesus was to be the “centre-piece” between two other crosses on which two known criminals already hung. These two criminals were still alive when these brave Roman Soldiers in full uniform, nailed first the spread-out hands of an innocent Man, & then, a huge steel nail through both feet, before hoisting up the Son of God who, as a truly suffering “human being” looked up to the sky, calling out the anguished cry ” Father, why has’t thou forsaken me? “, followed by the words of a “Savior” saying “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do”.

As he spoke, the criminal to the left of him died, but the other said to Jesus “Lord, remember me when you get to heaven” and Jesus looked at him as he replied ” Son, this day, I will meet you in Paradise”. Then, the human body of Jesus could take it no more, he closed his eyes and died to “save” everyone, everywhere. His Mother Mary, suffering also, as any Mother would, had to assist in taking down the body of her Son, cleaning and wrapping up the corpse and relegating it to the “tomb” before departing after “sealing” it with a heavy rock boulder, as was the practice of the day.

On the third day (after “Good Friday”), she came back to find the boulder moved aside and the body of Jesus no longer there. This was “Easter Sunday” folks. This was the day that, as previously foretold, Jesus Christ rose from the dead, and after “appearing” to his Apostles a short time later, in Person, He was resurrected to be escorted to his Father in Heaven, by a host of angels. Happy Easter 2017, to everyone out there. May God bless all of you.
