LCC MEDIA RELEASE – Liverpool Young Achiever wins state award

Liverpool is celebrating one of its own, with former employee Ceyda Nalbantoglu named the Young Achiever of the Year at the prestigious 2025 Women in Local Government Awards.

Ms Nalbantoglu, who served as Council’s Digital Assistant, played a pivotal role in capturing and showcasing Liverpool’s stories to the world. From major infrastructure announcements to community celebrations, Ceyda’s work brought Council’s initiatives to life and helped connect residents with their city in new and engaging ways.

Her creative storytelling and digital expertise transformed how Council communicated, engaging diverse audiences and elevating Liverpool’s reputation across Western Sydney and beyond.

CEO Jason Breton congratulated Ceyda and praised the role of councils in nurturing young talent:

“Ms Nalbantoglu is a shining example of how local government can help young people build the skills, experience and confidence to achieve great things. Her success is not just a reflection of her remarkable talent and drive, but a testament to the opportunities that councils like Liverpool provide to local people to grow professionally and creatively.”

“We are incredibly proud of Ms Nalbantoglu. She took every opportunity, used her creativity to tell Liverpool’s story, and helped our community feel seen and connected. Her achievement shows that councils aren’t just service providers, we are places where careers are launched and futures are shaped.”

Ms Nalbantoglu said receiving the award was a career-defining moment:

“I love the direct connection local government has with the community. Every project, big or small creates a tangible impact in people’s daily lives. For me, that makes the work more meaningful.

“Having been born and raised in Western Sydney and living in Liverpool for the past 15 years. I am passionate about challenging the stereotypes and proving that talent and leadership are thriving in our region.

“That’s why working in local government, specifically for my local government is extra special. I feel like I am directly making an impact within my own community. My role is especially rewarding because at the end of the day, the messaging I put out in my content is speaking to my parents, my family, and my friends who live here. I love ensuring that what I create is clear, accessible, and relatable, so that my community feels informed, included, and connected.

During her time at Liverpool Council, Ceyda:

  • Produced dynamic video content promoting council initiatives, infrastructure projects and major community events.
  • Led innovative social media campaigns that significantly increased community engagement.
  • Championed inclusive storytelling that reflected Liverpool’s cultural diversity, youth voice and civic spirit.
  • Her award recognises excellence, leadership and outstanding contributions by young women in local government across New South Wales.

Liverpool Council congratulates Ceyda on this exceptional achievement and thanks her for her lasting contribution to the city’s digital storytelling, community engagement and future creative leaders.
