Held at Hornsby RSL on Sunday 16 November from 10am-12pm, this free community event is designed to foster connection, celebrate diversity, and promote inclusion across generations and cultures.
Attendees will enjoy:
- Live entertainment – Featuring traditional instruments, cultural singing, and performances by local school bands including Barker College’s pop and rock band and Waitara Public School choir.
- Cultural activities -Try your hand at Chinese calligraphy, origami, traditional games, and Henna art.
- Community connections – Meet local services, discover what’s happening in your area, and connect with others.
- Morning tea – A delicious selection of sweet and savoury delights will be provided.
The event is expected to welcome 300 people and will be held in a lively, family-friendly environment suitable for children and adults alike. It reflects Hornsby Shire’s commitment to building a more connected and inclusive community, especially for residents from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
Mayor Warren Waddell said the event is a meaningful way to mark Social Inclusion Week and bring the community together:
“Social Inclusion Week is about helping all Australians feel included and valued, giving everyone the opportunity to participate fully in society. This event recognises the theme of ‘Connect, Collaborate and Celebrate’ by creating a fun and inviting atmosphere where everyone is welcome.
“Hornsby Shire Council is proud to present initiatives like Hello Hornsby that bring people together and strengthen community bonds.”
