Cricket Australia is delighted to announce a significant surge in ticket sales from India, emphasising the excitement of the fierce rivalry between the two cricketing giants competing for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

There has been a remarkable six times increase in the number of ticket purchasers from India compared to all last season. This surge in interest continues when compared to the 2018/19 sales period, the last series unaffected by COVID-19, with six times the number of Indian fans purchasing tickets this season so far.

The number of tickets sold to purchasers from India for the Boxing Day Test is already ten times the amount sold for the Boxing Day Test in 2018 at the same point in time, showcasing the immense interest and excitement surrounding this historic fixture.

This overwhelming response also shows the enduring appeal of Test cricket and the deep-seated passion for cricket among Indian fans. Cricket Australia is thrilled to witness this unprecedented level of engagement from the Indian cricket community.

Additionally, there has been a strong demand from corporate groups traveling from India, particularly for Hospitality and Premium Experience packages for the Boxing Day Test.

This trend highlights the increasing desire for unique and memorable cricket experiences among Indian fans, further cementing Australia’s position as a premier destination for international cricket tourism.

Joel Morrison, General Manager Events & Operations:

“We are delighted so many Indian fans will travel to see the NRMA Insurance Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, and they can expect a very warm welcome in Australia.

“We are committed to providing an enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone attending, and we’re sure this series will be remembered for many years to come.

“For the first time in a Test series in Australia, we are introducing Indian Fan Zones, which are specially designed to create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for our Indian supporters.

“This will encourage connection amongst Indian fans and create a festive environment across all our venues during the series.”
