Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith will not play the third game to finalise preparations for the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Bartlett, Johnson and Philippe join Lance Morris who was brought into the ODI squad in Melbourne to allow Hazlewood to play in the Sheffield Shield as part of his Test preparation.

Hazlewood joined the squad in Adelaide for the second ODI. Bartlett is also in Adelaide as a travelling reserve for the second match.

Josh Inglis will act as captain for the third ODI and the T20 Series. He becomes Australia’s 30th ODI captain and 14th T20I captain in the absence of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Marsh.

Chair of Selectors, George Bailey said: “Josh is an integral member of the ODI and T20I teams and a highly respected player on and off the field. He has led Australia A previously and will bring strong tactical nous and a positive approach to the role.

“Josh will receive great support from the likes of Matt Short and Adam Zampa, along with senior players including Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis.”
