A message of condolences on the passing of Dr Harinath OAM

The NSW Government extends its sympathies to the family of Dr GK Harinath following his passing.

Dr Harinath, was a pivotal figure within the multicultural community of NSW, and his legacy will be remembered for years to come.

A message from the NSW Premier:

“It is with great sadness that I acknowledge the passing of a remarkable person, Dr GK Harinath OAM.”

“Dr Hari, as he was known, joined the Multicultural NSW Advisory Board in July 2013, becoming Chairperson in September 2014, a position he held for 8 years until 30 June 2022.”

“As the esteemed Chairperson of Multicultural NSW, as well as Cricket NSW, Dr Harinath’s influence and leadership roles reflect a life dedicated to service.”

“His remarkable contribution to multicultural communities in NSW stands unparalleled.”

“On behalf of the NSW Government, I express our condolences to his wife Gayathri, his children and all his family.”

“May he rest in peace.”

A message from the Minister for Multiculturalism:

“Dr Harinath OAM was a respected and admired community leader in NSW, one who has left an indelible footprint on the multicultural sector.”

“He was awarded on Order of Australia Medal in the 2009 Queen’s Birthday Honours for service to cricket through executive roles at the state and national level, and to the community.”

“He was also awarded the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman (Medal) by the President of India in 2017, the highest honour conferred to Indians living overseas.”

“He had a remarkable journey and we thank Dr Hari for all his incredible contributions to our State.

I offer my deepest condolences to Dr Hari’s family.”
