SUNDAY CHOICE – Wonderful World We Live In – By Charles Schokman

What a wildly wonderful world, God! You made it all, with Wisdom at your side, made earth overflow with your wonderful creations. —Psalm 104:24

When we read Genesis 1-2, we see that God really did create a wonderful world! But when we get to Genesis 3, we see what people started doing to it. Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command by eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Sin entered the world and brought suffering and death to the human race and in Genesis 4-5, we see how sin infiltrated the human family and decimated Adam and Eve’s descendants.

We are sometimes so immersed in the problems of the day that we miss the natural wonder around us. God in His wisdom created all, He made earth overflow with diverse and wonderful creations. Even if you are sheltering at home, take time to look and enjoy nature outside your window. Take time to appreciate the small flower growing in a crack in the sidewalk, a bird filling our morning with a song, the sun shining through the clouds, the buzzing bee pollinating our crops and beautiful flowers, the joy of children singing, and the smile on the face of a neighbour walking by. Thank you Lord, for creating this wildly wonderful world, for us, to enjoy.

Will you take time to relax and enjoy God’s wildly wonderful world today?

Let us pray:—-

Dear Lord, we thank You for making the earth overflow with wonderful creations. Open our eyes to the splendour and majesty that surrounds us. As the lovely bright and colourful flowers of the hibiscus grow upwards illuminated by the sun, help us to grow and be upright embracing Your Word, glowing with Your light, and sharing Your love. Our Father, we thank you for creating our wildly wonderful world and for Your loving care for us. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen.

Though not being labelled as a worship song, ‘What A Wonderful World’ is an articulation of the human experience in which people from all backgrounds, be they religious or not, can hopefully recognize themselves.

The song highlights the little things in life that are beautiful people seem to lose sight of. From skies of blue to trees of green, it reminds us to take a step back and focus more on the positive aspects the world has to offer. It may be a difficult time or a difficult week, but the world won’t stop spinning.

One thing remains constant as Armstrong stated, “it ain’t the world that’s so bad but what we’re doing’ to it. And all I’m saying is, see, what a wonderful world it would be if only we’d give it a chance.”

I see trees of green, red roses too
I watch them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue, clouds of white The bright blessed day and the dark sacred night And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky Are also on the faces of the people passing by I see friends shaking hands, saying, how do you do? “What they’re really saying is “I love you.”

I hear babies cry, I watch them grow They’ll know much more than I’ll ever know And I think to myself: What a Wonderful World Yes I think to myself: What a Wonderful World

You are sure to enjoy this video of second graders (a virtual choir) from Great Hearts Archway School singing “What a Wonderful World.”

You are welcome to pass this on.
