The Cyril Dharmawardena Foundation, (CDF) or it’s mission statement, (Compassion, Dedication, Fulfilment), provide non emergency transport vehicles that ferry patients from the villages and outer areas from the major cities in cases of injury and serious illness. CDF PATIENT TRANSPORT CHARITY – Sri Lanka ‘FEEL GOOD’ SURVIVAL STORIES… OUR REWARD Baby Viku Indra Viku’s story is one of many. This 2 year old boy with a brain tumor needed to attend the main Cancer hospital which was 6 hours away. His mother was unemployed and did not have the means to bring Viku to the hospital. CDF came to the rescue to save his life with multiple trips regardless of the distance, time and cost. Living 200km away from the hospital, Viku’s mother battling poverty in addition to her own health issues was a daunting task. Surviving cancer after gruelling treatment is a huge milestone in a child’s life.
