“SANCTIONS SQUARED” by Desmond Kelly ‘the Star of eLanka’ Never very good at arithmetic, I still understand that the term “squared” means an additional amount. How many times will sanctions have to be squared, in certain instances, before they are possibly “cubed” ?. Perhaps, after they have been cubed, the next step is, of course, “quadrupled”, then “quintuplicated” etc., etc because, although “Latin” is now supposed to be a “dead language”, this is still the best way to put it. Now, to get back to English, which was always one of my favourite “subjects” at school, and quoting well-known English phrases, which I love to do, phrases like “when in Rome, do as the Romans do”, which conveniently brings me back to “Sanctions Squared”in that, just one set of “sanctions” would generally make ANY Country in this Planet of ours, take notice and “toe the line”.
