Hands off Sinharaja! Source:Island When I saw it, I almost fainted, driven by utter disbelief. I just couldn’t absorb the shock, and, mind you, I am not exaggerating. This is in spite of the fact that what you hear, read and is even talked about day in and day out nowadays: A mass of news on what the nation’s forests and the rest of its environment have been subjected to, for quite some time now.  The Editor of The Island has written about this ‘murder of a green canopy’ (this is how I personally want to name this madness) in many an illuminating editorial of his newspaper, the latest being the one titled ‘Sinharaja in danger’ (20-03-21).
