A Black Four-Legged Peace Walker in Our Day 4 in Sri Lanka – As the afternoon light softened toward the conclusion of Day 4 (April 24, 2026) in Sri Lanka, a silent friend emerged from the street to join our journey. He was a black dog, distinguished by “white boots”—dainty markings of pale fur on his paws that looked like little socks, standing out clearly against the path.
We first noticed his steady presence at 5:40 PM local time, walking in quiet harmony beside us. For twenty minutes, he became part of our collective pace, sharing the rhythmic cadence of the journey under the clear sky. Then, as we approached our destination, he moved with purpose to the very front. In those final moments before our 6:00 PM arrival, he led the way with a calm confidence, guiding the venerable monks and everyone directly to the gate of Beligammana Raja Maha Vihara.
We do not know where he came from, nor where he has wandered since. It was as if he appeared simply to walk the path of peace for a brief, meaningful moment. His presence served as a gentle reminder that peace is a universal language, a frequency to which all sentient beings are naturally drawn.
Peace is not a distant goal; it is already here. We need only recognize it and remain present to find our way home. Just like this mysterious guide who stepped out of the unknown to lead us toward our rest, peace is always ready to guide our steps the moment we are ready to follow.
May you and all beings be well, happy and at peace.
