5 Things to do in Australia

Sydney opera house

Australia is a country full of warm beaches, historical and natural landmarks, a vibrant night life, and some excellent cuisine from all over the world. So, if you have ever thought about visiting or even moving to the Land Down Under, these are the top 5 things that you absolutely should not miss out on doing.

Go to the Beach

The first one is rather obvious. Australia boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The breeze by the sea is certainly going to do anyone good. And in the hot Australian summer, a dip in the ocean is just the thing to cool you off.

But it doesn’t stop there. Australia is also home to a wide variety of colorful sea life. Many beaches offer diving tours, so for any aspiring marine biologists, these are a must. Finally, visiting the Great Coral Reef is something anyone traveling to the Land Down Under should experience. A diversity of colors interweaves to form a truly fabulous picture.

Check out the Pokies

Australians are known for their love of the pokies. For those who don’t know, “pokies” is an Australian term for slot machines, fruit machines, or poker machines. Any visitor to Australia might be surprised by the number of slot casinos that pepper most of the major cities in the country.

And if casinos aren’t your thing, then maybe try your hand at the very same games online. If you were to visit www.novibet.ie, you would notice the same variety of games, ranging from slots, to roulette, to poker, to blackjack, and much more.

Hit the Pubs

Australia has retained much of its British colonial roots. In every major city, you will find dozens, if not hundreds of pubs. Most will be serving Australia’s most popular beers and some signature cocktails. The real treat, however, is when you discover the “local” pubs. Namely, the bars that are known only to the locals. Well-kept secrets serving delicious craft beer and some truly wonderful pub classic foods.

Visit the Landmarks

We briefly mentioned the Great Barrier Reef earlier in this article. However, the spectacle bears repeating. Visiting the Reef is one of those “must-dos” when you visit Australia. However, it isn’t just the Great Barrier Reef that warrants a visit. The Grand Mesa is another of Australia’s natural wonders. The largest flat-topped mountain in the world, the Grand Mesa stands at 1800 meters (or 11,000 feet), and it is truly a site to behold.

Just Have Fun

Lastly, just remember to have fun. At the end of the day, Australia is a place that offers something for anyone. If you find yourself disinterested in beaches, pokies, pubs, or natural beauty, do whatever you think will make you happy. Even if that means sitting in your hotel room, ordering food service, and just relaxing on a hot day. The point of your trip is to have fun after all. And putting needless pressure to “see it all” is certainly not all that fun.
