“A RAY OF HOPE”

“A RAY OF HOPE”

Quite a beautiful “Title” to begin 2023 with, is this little story sent in by Chris. Lawton, which I feel should be seen by each and EVERY ONE of our Members and readers of e’Lanka.

Around 70 years ago, I was a Serving member of the Royal Ceylon Navy, drafted to H.M.CyS Elara, at Karinagar, where our Navy meals were really nothing to write home about, and the drinking water was even worse, tasting very much like the Indian Ocean that surrounded us, when quite suddenly, my Dad called me on the telephone to find out how I was going, and I briefly mentioned my complaints to him, wherupon, he gave me this advice, which I have followed to this day.. Dad told me to somehow get and eat at least ONE egg EVERY DAY. How I cooked them didn’t matter, even if I had to swallow them raw, they would help me to exist over there, till I got back to Colombo & better Navy food,(hopefully).

I have never forgotten this advice from my beloved Dad, God rest his soul.

Now, in this “Ray of Hope”, I read about the delivery of EGGS to needy folk & Children, and am hoping for the very best, especially for the children over there, to be supplied with at least ONE egg a day, for as long as is possible. I will leave all our readers to figure out how they can help, as I will be happy to do the same.

A special PLEA to all tourists visiting Sri Lanka, whenever, PLEASE do your bit & help the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital & others, to feed these poor needy children, as if they were your own.I am sure that God will bless you, if you do.
