Her Excellency Ms. Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General and Head of State of Australia, paid a visit to the Galle International Cricket Stadium this morning.

Accompanied by the His Excellency the High Commissioner of Australia in Sri Lanka, Mr. Paul Stephens, the Governor-General joined young cricketers from the Galle District age-group squads for a friendly game of cricket.

She was warmly welcomed by officials of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), and Mr. Bandula Dissanayake, Honorary Secretary of SLC, shared insights into the rich history of the iconic stadium.

During the visit, Ms. Mostyn also distributed cricket equipment to the budding players, underscoring the strong sporting ties between Sri Lanka and Australia.

Also present at the occasion were Mr. Dharamasiri Weeratunga, Government Agent of the Galle District; Mr. Chandima Mapatuna, Head of International Cricket at SLC; Mr. Kamal Dharmasiri, Head of the National Development Center; Mr. Aruna De Silva, Head of Administration at SLC; and Mr. Mahesh Sanjeewa, Secretary of the Galle District Cricket Association.
